Going, going, gone!

The brick commercial building located at the corner of Washington Ave. and Calhoun Street in downtown Livingston was demolished Monday and Tuesday. Built around 1930, the building was once home to such commercial landmarks as Whisenhunt Grocery and Harrison Shoe Shop. It had been vacant in recent years and had sustained storm damage to the point that it was condemned by the city. Current owner Mark Birdwell said he hopes to rebuild the structure based on its original blueprints. Photo: Greg Peak | Enterprise
